Short Stacked for the 2013 Nancy Awards

It's still early, but I'm pondering the best books I've managed to read all the way through in 2013 in preparation for bestowing the coveted Nancy Awards.

Books where I sounded out all the words myself:

Fiction: Ruth Ozeki's A Tale for the Time Being
Nonfiction:  Anna Badkhen's The World is a Carpet

Audiobooks:

Fiction: Light Between Oceans by M. L. Stedman, read by Noah Taylor.
Nonfiction: History of the English Language in 100 Words, by David Crystal, read by the author.


A sad note:

Right after I became addicted to audiobooks about Jo Nesbo's Inspector Harry Hole, I learned that the fantastic narrator Robin Sachs passed away earlier this year.

    I love the coveted Nancy Awards. (Where is the promised poetry, by the way?) And I love the stacked French toast, which would have made me hungry except that I am eating a pumpkin spice bagel at the moment!

    My favorite work of fiction this year has been Telegraph Hill by Michael Chabon. I will have to read Ruth Ozeki's book, I have read 2 others by her and loved them!
