Cock crows in the morn to tell us to rise,
And he who lies late will never be wise,
For early to bed, and early to rise,
Is the way to be healthy and wealthy and wise.
The cock does not just crow in the morn. The rooster across the creek from the school playground crows pretty much all day. I am stunned that the neighbors don't complain, as the rooster is as noisy as a barking dog. For my preschoolers that rooster is proof of cock-a-doodle-dooing that most of them would never experience otherwise.
When I fall out of bed tomorrow, it will be an early risers accident. The risers arrived in the mail today, and now my bed sits up five inches higher to provide under-the-bed storage of portfolios and other unwieldy items. Thanks to an Amazon gift card from school parents past and present I got several useful items for the apartment. Another is an Acurite comfort thermometer/humidity monitor (with magnet!) to answer the age-old question, "Is it hot in here, or is it me?" Right now it is seventy-three degrees, but 59% humidity. Pretty humid after a day of intermittent downpours.
